Lockheed Martin Launches New Cyber Facility at Port San Antonio

Lockheed Martin has opened its development center in Port San Antonio's new cybersecurity-centric building known as Project Tech. The largest U.S. defense contractor is leasing 15,000 square feet in the 90,000-square-foot cybersecurity-focused facility located on the Port’s campus across the street from the 24th Air Force’s cyber command. The first tenant to sign a lease in the Project Tech building, Lockheed Martin has designed the space to serve as laboratories for the exploratory work they do for clients such as the 24th and 25th Air Force in San Antonio and the National Security Agency (NSA) location in Texas, according to Lockheed Martin vice president of spectrum convergence, Deon Viergutz. Port San Antonio Approves Pre-Development Agreement for Innovation Center, Cyber Facilities

Plans for an ambitious innovation campus at Port San Antonio have gotten one step closer to realization. Port board members voted Wednesday afternoon to approve a pre-development 120-day agreement with American Triple I Partners, LLC. The memorandum of understanding outlines how the Port will work with American Triple I Partners to build the innovation center on the 1,900-acre campus first proposed in 2018. Sundt Infrastructure Development will support Triple I during the pre-development phase. American Triple I Partners is an infrastructure private equity firm that focuses on transportation, information technology, and smart city investments. A San Antonio startup has raised $8.3 million in funding, according to a Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) filing last week. DCI will launch its new VR cybersecurity training with the Threat Actor Targeting and Exploitation – Cyber Espionage course scheduled to start Sept. 24 and again Dec. 10. Jim Perschbach, who earlier this week was named president and CEO of Port San Antonio, announced a bold strategic vision Friday at an event organized by the San Antonio Chamber of Commerce. The Port plans to transform the 1,900-acre campus southwest of downtown into a center for advanced technology, complete with an innovation center that will house the San Antonio Museum of Science and Technology (SAMSAT). Plans are in the conceptual stage to construct a new, 50,000-square-foot facility at Port San Antonio with a showroom for locally developed innovations, in addition to the science and tech museum and a maker space. Jim Perschbach Named CEO and President of Port San Antonio

Port San Antonio's board of directors named Jim Perschbach as the organization’s president and CEO Wednesday. Perschbach has served in an interim role since March 28 after the previous Port CEO, Roland Mower, stepped down. Perschbach will lead a team of about 100 employees focused on the redevelopment the former Kelly Air Force Base in southwest San Antonio. "It's an exciting time for the Port," Perschbach said. "We're not just looking for established companies, we're looking for startups.
