San Antonio Launches Cityflag 311 App

San Antonio has launched 311SA, its new interactive civic engagement app developed by local startup Cityflag. The cellphone app enables residents to report municipal issues to the City of San Antonio and is available for download in the iTunes and Google Play online stores. The City of San Antonio and City Flag are co-hosting the official launch of the 311SA mobile app August 15th starting at 11 a.m. in the Geekdom Event Centre. You can RSVP for the free event. Former CEO and Geekdom chairman Lorenzo Gomez and tech evangelist, downtown developer, and philanthropist Graham Weston have teamed to launch a new media company—Geekdom Media. The two created Geekdom Media to disseminate original content relevant to the entrepreneurial ecosystem while showcasing world-class experts who reside in San Antonio. Geekdom Media’s first effort is the Brand Brothers podcast series, hosted by Gomez and branding expert Bill Schley. San Antonio Venture Firm Active Capital Leads Funding for Pingboard

Pingboard, a business to business (B2B) Software as a Service (SaaS) company, announced its latest $5 million round of seed funding led by Active Capital. The San Antonio-based venture firm is focused on leading seed rounds for founder-led, B2B SaaS companies. Pat Matthews, founder and CEO of Webmail.us which was acquired by Rackspace in 2007, decided to launch Active Capital in 2016. This is Active Capital’s 10th deal to date. Other deals have been with startups located in cities across the U.S. like Super Dispatch in Kansas City, which automates software workflows and payments for the trucking industry. SA Tech Trek Brings Fiesta to San Antonio’s Downtown Tech District

SA Tech Trek was bigger this year, with more startup companies, more stops, and more people who came to check out San Antonio’s growing startup scene. The tech-oriented Fiesta event designed to showcase San Antonio’s tech ecosystem drew larger than expected crowds of local entrepreneurs and visitors curious to visit startup companies in the downtown tech district. Tech Bloc and Geekdom co-hosted the San Antonio Chamber of Commerce’s second SA Tech Trek, with AT&T serving as the event’s title sponsor. In 2017 SA Tech Trek logged over 1,000 total entrepreneurs, executives, students and tech employees visiting startups in the Rand Building on 110 E.
