Geekdom Launches Incubator Program for Startups Focused on Social Impact

Aspiring entrepreneurs spoke excitedly to attendees at the Geekdom inaugural launch for its incubator cohort Tuesday evening. The three teams are participating in an inaugural 12-month-long incubator program designed to help launch civically-focused tech startups. The three teams are: Polis, which is developing a Bluetooth network-based navigation solution for the San Antonio River Walk, solovaGo, which is creating an app that uses crime data to help users evaluate the safety of neighborhoods, and, Pawtify, which is working with San Antonio's animal care services department to increase the number of pet adoptions. EPIcenter Announces Incubator, First Energy Startups

EPIcenter has chosen the first two San Antonio-based startup companies to join its new Energy Incubator and Accelerator program. EPIcenter CEO Kimberly Britton will announce and introduce Go Smart Solar and Morton Gestalt at downtown San Antonio co-working space Geekdom Tuesday afternoon. The incubator aims to help budding entrepreneurs develop innovative business ideas in the energy sector. EPIcenter plans to transform a century-old power plant on the Mission Reach of the San Antonio Riverwalk into a world-class center that will house the nonprofit organization’s think tank, incubator, and exhibit space highlighting innovation in clean energy.
