For one local startup, participation in San Antonio’s pilot civic engagement residency program spurred the development of an innovative indoor airport wayfinding application.Reckon Point is one of the startups participating in CivTechSA, a joint program between the Geekdom co-working community and the City of San Antonio. The group of Texas BioMed scientists led by Ruth Ruprecht, M.D., Ph.D., used an animal model to show for the first time that an antibody called Immunoglobulin M (IgM) was effective in preventing infection after mucosal AIDS virus exposure.Only certain body fluids from a person infected with HIV can transmit the virus. Students+Startups, run collaboratively between Trinity University, the nonprofit 80/20 Foundation, and San Antonio co-working community Geekdom announced the program's expansion Monday.The internship program is funded by a grant from the 80/20 Foundation, established by the co-founder and former Rackspace chairman Graham Weston.
