City of San Antonio and Kinetech Cloud Launch New Utility Assistance Program Application

The City of San Antonio and its technology startup partner Kinetech Cloud launched a new online application for residents seeking emergency utility bill assistance Wednesday.The City of San Antonio’s Department of Human Services (DHS) worked with Kinetech Cloud to develop the Emergency Utility Bill Assistance online application. It replaces the original paper-driven process of printing the paper application, photocopying supporting documentation such as a photo identification card, proof of income, and utility bill, and mailing the completed package or submitting it in person. City residents can now complete the application online, uploading documents via their smartphone or tablet’s built-in camera. Digital Creative Institute Debuts First Digital Marketing Apprenticeship

Digital Creative Institute (DCI) has launched the first digital marketing apprenticeship in the U.S.  The San Antonio-based company announced it had formally registered its digital creative marketing apprenticeship program with the U.S. Department of Labor Office of Apprenticeship (DOLOA) and the Texas Workforce Commission. The Geekdom startup launched in San Antonio almost three years ago and has since opened its program in Austin, where DCI is already running an apprenticeship program. DCI offers a 12-month digital marketing mentorship program pairing participants with companies. The San Antonio Chamber of Commerce 2018 Healthcare and Bioscience Economic Impact Study is based on 2017 data, according to the study authors economist Richard Butler, Ph.D., and health care administration professor Mary E. Stefl, Ph.D., both from Trinity University. The study completed in 2018 stated its conservative estimate of over $30 billion in impact on San Antonio's economy in 2017. The authors included a more comprehensive analysis of economic impact with data from UT Health San Antonio, Baylor College of Medicine at the Children's Hospital of San Antonio, and some military medical presence in San Antonio. City Partnership Offers Free Kitchen Access To Launch SA Culinary Startups

For entrepreneurs starting a food truck, small restaurant, a catering business, or perhaps selling at a farmer's market, the lack of access to a commercial kitchen can be a major stumbling block. Building out even a small one can be expensive, especially for a company just launching. The City of San Antonio’s Economic Development Department (SAEDD) has partnered with the Maestro Entrepreneur Center to give culinary startups participating in Launch SA programs free access to the Center’s commercial kitchen.
